Rowan University: Since 1923, Leading by Example
From Office of the President, Dr. Ali A. Houshmand
Since its founding in 1923, Rowan University has evolved from a teacher preparation college to a bustling regional university that's ranked among the best public universities in the North by U.S. News and World Report. Today, Rowan's more than 14,000 students choose from 85 Bachelor degree programs, 65 Graduate programs, 2 Doctoral degrees, and 2 Professional programs. The University is one of just 56 institutions in the country with accredited programs in business, education, engineering and medicine.
Leading by Example:
These are historic times at Rowan University. Our institution has long provided an excellent education for future teachers and lawyers, engineers and broadcasters, entrepreneurs and musicians, among so many more. We still do. But today, the climate here is even more exciting.
We are continuing to grow our programs and improve our facilities. We are in a unique public-private partnership that has lead to the construction of a retail, housing and academic corridor called Rowan Boulevard. We have partnered with Cooper Health System to create Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. There is, however, much more ahead.
I invite you to explore our website and learn more about what we offer our students and community. I hope you enjoy your visit.
Dr. Ali A. Houshmand
Biography:
Dr. Ali A. Houshmand became Rowan University’s seventh president in June 2012 after serving approximately six years as provost/senior vice president, CEO and interim president.
As provost/senior vice president for Academic Affairs, Dr. Houshmand made an immediate impact: he helped established the College of Graduate and Continuing Education, oversaw the restructuring of the summer school and graduate school, created a University-wide revenue-sharing model, and established the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning.
During his interim presidency and the early part of his presidency, Rowan University continued to partner on some of the most important projects in its history, including the cofounding of Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) with Cooper University Health Care and the construction of Rowan Boulevard, a historic public-private-public development.
